Help finding new Head stud (problem solved)

(1/2) > >>

Nal0x0ne:
Bought a brand new torque wrench to make sure I fastened all my head nuts and bolts to spec... well either my wrench or the head stud must have been faulty because it snapped the head stud right in half. Now I am having a terrible time finding a replacement. Does anyone know the part number, or where I could find them?

Maybe:

Might want to check eBay. I believe that the VT500FT Ascot engine & the VT500 Shadow engine use the same head bolts. Sneak up on those final torque figures by about 5# to 10# increments.

Good luck
J.

I think I have found it, or at least I am sure enough to spend $15 on it to find out. It was listed as a part of the crank case components, #10 on the diagram here. Its the smallest of the engine studs and it runs right behind the cam chain so I'm thinking this is it.

So in the end every company I contacted said they had the part, then after taking my money told me they didn't. 3 refunds later I am sure this part is now completely obsolete. I will have to find a suitable replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions?

U can always try making your own if you have a metric tap and die set. just use a good grade peace of rod when you thread it , a machine shop will make you one if you have one for them to look at and measure but will charge you big time
