428 chain conversion
« on: September 29, 2017, 11:08:35 pm »
Hello!  New Ascot owner.

Just got the bike running a couple weeks ago.  Trying to get it rideable now.

Has anyone looked into doing a 428 chain conversion on the FT500?

Before I start poking around figured I'd ask if anyone has already looked into this.

My bike has a 530 chain now.  520 conversion is easy, but also still seems to be too much chain for the bike.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Patrick

Why would you do that? The standard chain wears fairly well, so why fit one that will wear quicker?

Never heard of a 428 chain on an Ascot.

Do the 520 & consider it done.

520 is the way to go, strong enough for a modern 450 MX bike so plenty strong enough for your Ascot and lots of gearing choices ,less weight ,less rotatating mass and stronger than the the original stock 530 chain
