« on: March 13, 2018, 10:39:05 pm »

Past Issues:

Fixed

Current Issues:
Bike Sputters out the then wont stat for awhile.
I'm assuming it has to do with the carb...

Will update as i go.

Inaugural photo dump in no particular order.

Do you know how the vacuum operated fuel petcock is supposed to work?

Verify that you have fuel flow.

Verify that you have air flow through a clean air filter.

Verify no vacuum leaks.

Sounds like you have spark if it will fire.

Do you still have the original rear fender? That chrome fender doesn't really fit the bike's Flat Track image.

Check out the Sticky links.  http://ascot500.com/index.php?board=11.0

Report back with your findings.

Good luck.
J.

Thank you! I will look into those things.

I can start the bike and drive the bike it's only when I turn that the bike starts to sputter and die. Maybe the float?

When you turn?

Are you leaning the bike, or turning the handlebars when it sputters?

If it happens when you turn the handlebars & the bike is more or less straight up & down, I would suspect an electrical problem. Look for a wire that has the insulation worn through & grounding out against the frame, forks, bars, etc.

Does the bike still have the center stand? If so, place bike on center stand & start. Allow the bike to idle & slowly turn the handlebars from steering lock to steering lock. If it dies, stop moving the bars & look at the wiring.

PS. Buy a nice helmet & wear it. Beware of drivers from Sun City.  :o

Hahaha that picture of me riding was from Sun city! I wear a helmet 99% of the time. To clear up my sputtering issues, its when I lean on the bike thru turns, or during full open throttle. I wish I had the rear fender still...

I would look for a fueling issue.

Might be able to carefully clean the carb. Be gentle with the rubber intake manifold.

Have you replaced the spark plug?

PS. Check E-bay for a rear fender.
