Just joined after lurking for a while. I have had 2 FT500 Ascots in the 80's, but just purchased a 1984 VT500 sight unseen with 18,000 miles on it. So, have been searching for the items that I assume may need replacing, i.e. rubber stuff, cables, etc. Seems like some good activity on this forum, considering it's been 34 years. Odd that the Ascot differs from the VT500E in Europe by having hydraulic lifters! This VT will be my 39th bike since 1965, currently ride a 2017 Moto Guzzi V7.
Oh yeah, I should tell you I won't get this bike for 2 weeks!
