I picked this 1983 VT500FT yesterday from the original owner's son-in-law, has 3300 miles, looks like brand new, not even dusty. Best bike deal I ever got.

That's a sweet Ascot!

Original owner bikes with less than 10K miles are usually very nice.

Enjoy.

Couldn't resist, considering he only asked for $1000. . I realize these are not very common bikes so membership and activity on this forum is light. The CX500 forum is extremely active by comparison, probably due to their commonplace availability and the recent cafe racer build craze. Right now I have no plans to modify or repair this one so will not be very active on this forum. However, I will check in occasionally. Thanks for the welcome, I see that you are one of the original members? I must say that I have ridden it a few times already and absolutely love this little bike. It is just as fun as my '81 CX500 and '84 VF500F, my other Honda 500's. To me these are the perfect size for tooling around in town. I ride the big ones on the highway.

I think many of the newer / younger Ascot owners prefer the Facebook Ascot club.

I'm not a fan of Facebook & prefer the good ole fashion forum format.

If that bike is as clean & nice as it looks in the photo you posted... You stole it!

The guy's garage was amazing. He has a separate freestanding 2 car garage in back of his house in addition to the garage attached to the house. He has a milling machine, welder, other high end tools like that, an epoxy painted floor, TV mounted on the wall, insulated and heated, etc, etc... He even has a  2 seater lightweight aircraft in there. He has 2 vintage BMW bikes in the basement, and another cruiser bike in the other garage he is selling. Definitely one guy in a thousand with the set-up he has, and a good looking wife that lets him do all that. Believe me, I didn't cheat the guy, he told me he didn't want to have it take up space anymore and wanted it to go to somebody he could trust to take care of it. In a way he was giving it to me, the $1000. was more of a token gesture on my part to compensate him. I won't ever get a deal like that again and I have had some great deals before, I've got 11 old bikes on the property, and was not looking to buy another one, but just couldn't say no to this one.
