Title: wanted info: how to remove gas tank decals.
Post by: rainman19154 on June 04, 2016, 01:02:43 pm
not a popular topic for some but I want the decals gone. Sanding would be pretty counter productive if instead  there's a nice sane way to go about it.
I recently saw pics where someone had used boiling water to remove decals from a Honda side cover. Would a variation on that work? (Wet towel and prolonged application of an electric heat gun?)

I seem to recall reading once, that Honda sprayed clear-coat over the stickers.

Don't know how accurate that may be. I say, learn to live with them. You will most likely cause more grief in attempting to remove them.

Any that I have ever removed have softened with a heat gun and sharp finger nail to pull them off. Don't know about the clear coat.
