Title: starter removal
Post by: ft500sd on February 22, 2016, 11:15:17 pm
I just bought an FT500 non running rat bike. I found the reason for not starting. The gear reduction gear is a half cog off thereby siezing it to the flywheel gear and permenantly mashing one tooth. Got everything all siezed up! I found a replacement but what Im wondering is if the left hand side cover has to come off the engine to get the starter off. I could swear I have all the bolts out but it will not come off. Looks to be a hose flange in the way on the bottom part of the reductor housing to keep it from pulling straight out with the starter from the right side?
Any idea's out there?? In thumper land¿?
I know . . .I need a manual. I promise im getting one!

There are two more bolts behind the starter drive shaft.
