Hello there
I'm doing a rebuild and I'm trying to find out what's the Speedo ratio on my FT. An educated guess would suggest is 1:4, but I'd like to pick your brain for experience.
I believe the tachometer is 1:1
Thanks for any help you can share.

Hey the Colosseumrat,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you find it worthy of your time.
Unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question. Hopefully someone else will chime in with an answer for you.
Are you aware of the Yahoo Ascot Owners Group? You might try your question there also. It can be found at: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/honda-ascot/info
Here is one of my earlier posts on some gauge companies & web-sites: http://ascot500.com/index.php?topic=72.0
Good luck & please let us know what you find out.

Have you seen the offerings from Dime City Cycle? http://www.dimecitycycles.com
Here are the Speedometers: http://www.dimecitycycles.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=speedometer
Here are the Tachometers: http://www.dimecitycycles.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=tachometer
They also have all kinds of neat CAFE & Bobber type of parts.
Good luck

I copied this post from the Yahoo Ascot Owners Group.
Put my thinking cap on and pulled the tach drive off my FT500 this
afternoon. Counted the revolutions of the driven gear (the one that
mates to the cam) and got 2 full revolutions there to 1 full
revolution of the shaft that the cable for the tach drive hooks
into. So is that 1:2 or 2:1? Anyway it's not 1:1.
Neil
Thank you Neil for checking this out & providing this valuable information.

Don’t forget, the cam turns at half speed of the crankshaft, so sounds like 4:1
Now what?
