What does the starter control unit do ?

That's a very good question!?? My best guess is that it delays the operation of the starter relay, maybe to allow the starter solenoid time to operate before the starter runs?

The schematic tells me nothing. LOL

Fried mine, replaced with a  cheap auto relay all the info to do so was found on the yahoo ascot enthusiasts group . Get over there and join
