XT gearbox in a FT?

Hello, i have a minor trouble with my third gear, making some noice. I do also have a spare Engine, from a XT/XR 500.

Do you guys think it´s possible to swop the gear´s main shaft etc?

XT is Yamaha isn't it !? ..... unless you ment XL. It probably could be done just measure everything and make sure. I wouldn't doubt it could work, did you tear down the trans in the FT and find out what is making the *noise* ? You might be able to save it depending on what it is.

Get yourself a book and check wear specs it might be as simple as a brass slick bearing or maybe a gear etc.

Hmm i meant XL/XR of course :P

Well My hopes is that anyone knows for sure
And as lazy as i am, thinking it would be more easy to just fitting most of the insides than finding out whats making noice.

But Maybe its obius when i tear it down, couldt be a easy problem.
